Your donations will go for the following:

  • $959 per person is the cost to complete the BHS Comprehensive Shelter Program (This includes case management, housing, meals, laundry, transportation, phone access, child/parent programming, life skills training, family activities & outings, and relocation assistance. )
  • $40 per Metro bus card per month for each adult in the shelter program
  • $50 buys BHS 50 trips for mothers and children/teenagers to and from work, business contacts, medical appointments, school, grocery store, etc. for short term stays at shelter
  • $10 is the approximate cost of feeding one person per day
  • The BHS emergency shelter serves approximately 400 people per year @ $30 a day x 365 days a year = $438,000 (annual shelter budget)
